Max
| Max was scheduled to be PTS this morning but one of the vet nurses called us yesterday to ask if we could help. Fortunately we can! His owners will keep him until Saturday when I 'll pick him up a take him to kennels. I went to see him this morning. He was wearing a muzzle and giving the aggressive show but it only took a couple of minutes to make friends. He has been kept as a guard dog in a scaffolding yard for the past 4 years. The people who work there treat him well and seem to love him, but they've realised they're not allowed to have a free roaming guard dog, so Max has to go. Having made friends with Max I gave him lots of cuddles and did some grooming. In moments my hands were filthy black from the grease and grime in his coat. He needs a lot of grooming and I think he will turn out to be a lovely and affectionate companion for the right person. We will assess him more fully when he arrives in kennels. In other regards he appears fit and healthy - not over-weight - not under-weight and he walks well, showing no sign of his age but his teeth are blunt from chewing scaffolding poles. |
