Please meet the gorgeous Bear

Image

He is 2 years old and a really handsome boy.

Image

He hasn't been given very much in the way of guidence in the past so could do with being taught some manners. This doesn't help because he is quite stubborn.

Image

Bear needs experienced GSD owners who can first get to know him without any pressure being involved, allowing him to trust you before starting any training as such. This doesn't mean that he would be hard to train as he seems to enjoy praise and affection & in the past he has been trained in the basics. He is very switched on, & does need to get into a new home where he can start bonding with the someone who will give him time, space and lots & lots of love.
If only I had the room! ;)

Bear and I went for a stroll on Saturday & he behaved beautifully. He even waited when I told him to, while I slipped and slid down the muddy bank. He sat very nicely when a couple of dogs and owners went by, and enjoyed sploshing across the stream on our way back. We enjoyed a play in the run with a little yellow bone shaped toy which he prefered to all the other macho toys  bless him. And he sat in the run quietly while we were all busy. He met my Kassie for a little while and I don't think it would have been long before they'd have been playing if we didn't have to go. I am hoping to spend more time with Bear during the week and on Saturday with the plan of bringing him along to the BIGGSD walk on Sunday, :D unless he has found his forever home by then. :P

would it be possible to tell me how long it usually takes for a home visit and when you find out if you have a suitable home for a dog, I would love to give this gorgeous boy a forever home, and can come and meet him as soon as is convenient to you. thanks

hello, bear here, just to let all my friends at vigil, know I got to my new home safe and sound, its good fun here, I have a new bed but I dont like it very much so I just use it to wipe my muddy face on, they have a nice pond in the garden, its not too deep, well I managed to stand right in the middle just after we got there, mum was not very happy but I thought I could walk on water. Theres lots of nice grass to dig in, it looks much better with the holes I've dug. Foxie the Pom has been a bit friendlier today and we have had two lovely long walks together. I only growled at one dog and mum and dad was really pleased with me and gave me lots of cuddles when we got home, My upset tummy is much better today so I havent needed to mess in the garden so much. I have tried to be bossy sometimes but oh no my new dad isn't having any of it, I think his favourite words are no bear, but he gives me lots of cuddles when I do what he says. And as for my mummy she is quite strict too but I have too be good for her cos she is the one with the food and the sweet Jar.Anyway I'm feeling a bit tired now so I'm gonna go and have a sleep, I think I will be good at bedtime again tonight, they seemed to like that here. Mum says she will put some photos on next time. So far so good eh, just wait till I settle in they wont know whats hit them, or maybe I really will stay a good boy only I know that. Thankyou all for looking after me at Treetops. Bear XXXXXX

Hello, just a quick update on bear, after a lovely weekend of bonding, bear is coming on great, lots of long walks are paying off, he is really calming down and a stern no! is all it seems to take if he gets too boisterous, walks great on the lead but doesn't like motorbikes very much, so have to be on your guard, but getting him to sit and saying no bear leave it mostly seems the way to go, looong way to go but its early days. Have had as many as 6 other dogs around in the park and even being on a lead he reacted really well. Lets us take things off him when needed, but is stubborn around the front door. Only set back was yesterday when he scared the little dog and she has gone back into trauma mode, and wont even look at him with out crying, just as she was getting used to having him about, but only time will tell with this one. We are trying to give her time to come round, because she has to be our first priority. Bear is a beautiful loving boy but will take a lot of work as expected, so thats bears update for now, will get some pics on as soon as the daughter explains how to do it.
